Lisa Gardner

Lisa Gardner books are murder mystery staples. I have read at least half of her books and have yet to be disappointed by a single one. Her books always have major twists and turns that you can never see coming no matter how closely you pay attention. The greatest part about her books (in my opinion) is that there is a continuity between all of her books spanning between the different series. I just finished reading Catch Me and there were characters from The Perfect Husband and The Survivors Club. This lets her keep the characters alive without actually dedicating a book to them. The other thing that she does is having a different 'central character' in each book. What I mean is that for the most part the series regulars (DD, Quincy, Tessa, etc.) are only half of the story. This makes it so that you really can't get sick of the main characters because each book has a different perspective in addition to the regulars. Since all of the books are connected, it means that the years between DD Warren books is also a few years in DD's life. This makes it so that there can be big life changes in each novel (promotions, relationships, etc.) so it's really quick passed and you feel like you're following her career. The focus on the romantic relationship varies depending on the series and the book but they are never a complete focal point. Overall she's bomb dot com and I am 100% obsessed and 10/10 would die if I met her.
